VERDICT IS IN! | Johnny Depp V. Amber Heard Trial
Amber Heard and Johnny Depp have filed for divorce after their marriage ended in discord. The couple were married in February 2015. In May, Heard took out a restraining order against him after she claimed that he threw an iPhone at her head and assaulted her. The actor denied the allegations and the police found no evidence of the incident. In the end, both parties agreed to a settlement and have stayed away from each other’s public lives.
During the trial, Amber Heard testified about incidents involving the two. She claimed that Depp hit her in Australia while he was high on MDMA, a drug commonly known as ecstasy. She claimed that several of her friends were also high on MDMA, but Depp denied using it and said that the incident was an accident. Amber Heard denied that she ever used drugs or alcohol, but he did admit to smoking marijuana.
Amber Heard sought $100 million in compensation from Depp, but the jury awarded her only $2 million in compensatory damages. However, the jury found in favor of Johnny Depp on two counts, ruling that she had acted with malice. Amber Heard is disappointed by the outcome of the case, and hopes that she will receive the justice she deserves. Although she has been married to the actor since 2015, she is currently starring in the new movie Aquaman. The couple divorced in August 2016.
